about martha.
We aren’t born knowing how to navigate our relationship with food or our bodies, we are taught. Social media, those who raised us, friends, colleagues- so many different values and opinions contribute to our unique connection (or lack thereof) to food. And, often, that can feel quite messy. That’s where I come in. I am here to help you untangle certain messages to find what works for you and your own life, not what diet culture says is best for you.
I decided to become a Registered Dietitian while I was mid-treatment for my eating disorder nearly two decades ago. It took a handful of years to make sure I had a solid footing in my recovery before deciding to go back to school. After graduation, I returned to the very same program where I received my eating disorder treatment, only this time as the lead program dietitian.
And, ever since, when I reflect on my recovery story, it's like realizing the dark moments weren't just obstacles—they turned into a secret stash of strength. Now, that strength helps me guide folks in figuring out what a genuine, healthy relationship with food looks like. It's like turning a page from my own story to help you write yours in a way that feels truly authentic and, well, just right for you.
So, whether you have been recently diagnosed with an eating disorder, have been battling one your entire life, or are starting to feel sick of dieting and just want to explore other options- I’m here for you. I promise to never BS you, nor will I pretend I know everything. I will, however, gently challenge unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and emotions to free up some brain space for the authentically meaningful things in your life.
I so look forward to working with you!
